hey, sorry I didn't quite make it... I snapped the gear leaver on the van on the way down (bugger). Ended up at Whistling sands- awful surf, freezing cold but it wasn't worth going all that way not to get wet! Will catch up with you all later (p.s. still need to join!)

No worries on not making but you did miss a wicked time... Looking good later this week surf wise.. over the weekend sands will be working a treat and so will the 3 point break out round the bay. Don't forget the cheap gear night tonight... details are in this forum.

West Coast North Wales Open 2004 - 30th October 2004 By this morning the swell had dropped even further and there was a long discussion about postponing the event again. But a phone call from a couple of people who had checked Porth Ceiriad prompted the move and competitors reassembled there. The waves were very small and barely surfable but there was enough enthusiasm and then sun was shining warmly. There were a couple of heats during which the hot favourite Prue Woods was knocked out. There was another upset as Dave Chough ousted Chris Hookes. Tabs was trying hard with his head stand to switch to 360 approach but failed to catch the judges eye. The bodyboard final allowed Prue to claim some silver ware. He showed he is more at home on his body board than surfboard these days and with a couple of good waves including a cover up and a kneeling spinney thing he took first place. Penny Hancox came home second but lost valuable time when the Judges (sticklers for correct procedure) insisted she put her coloured vest on. The final of the surfing event was a close fought thing. Johnny Tantrum opted for the peak down the beach and had the pick of the set waves. Steffan Harkon (readers of 1970's skateboard magazines will be familiar with the name) surfed all the small rights but failed to get a really good one that would let him get three wheels out. Multi was consistent and showed he knows this place as well as he knows the Vaynol Arms. Gaz Hookes only had a small number of waves but they were the biggest and he drove the hardest and took the first place. Results Bodyboard. 1st. Prue Woods. 2nd. Penny Hancox. 3rd. Multi Matt. Surfing 1st. Gaz Hookes 2nd. Johnny Tantrum 3rd. Multi Matt.# too bad i wasnt there
