We enter the 3rd month of the year and in this 3rd week of flatness there are still no real prospects of surf here in North Wales.
As I said in the last post of the Febuary forcecast the smug hige pressure look like it is finally being push away and so as we enter what would have been the 4th week things are set to change.. A huge low joining with anothe rlow off the NE USA coast is squashing the high smaller and eventurally off to the south. Now its a big low and well travelled but unfortunatly falling appart once it reaches the UK. But I'm still expecting wave periods between 10-12 seconds once it pushes up to us.
Still a little early to tell but hopefully the winds will hold off enough to give us aleast and evening/morning ofcleanish waves as the remaing NW winds blow through. So arriving midday monday by current charts we should have a punchy 2-3ft down on the llyen and obiviosly a bit smaller on Anglesey. lasting through till the following early afternoon befor eit drops off.
Now most of us are off to NQ for the surf championships so oncve we're back I'll try and get a report out monday morning if i'm not too knackerd.

Monday ReportHey all, We return form the championships n the hope of a little swell here in north wales and its got worse again. The high period swell hoped for last week to artrive today is still comming but its gotten smaller Expecting a 13sec period but only maxing at 2.5ft on the bouy. There is a slim slim chance that will show up at Hells mouth this afternoon and Tuesday morning. Rest of WeekWhat can I say. Flat... Authough west wind swell will be building. Earlyest prospects of surf are next weekend/next week. if that.

Mid Week update
The tiny goundswell making it up the chanel didn't amount to much yesterday or this morning, showing just over a foot max on the llyen. For the rest of the week we see a low approaching from the north west as the low in the mid atlantic loses its power. So it means More cold wnds, little swell and no real prospects untill the weekend once the sytem passes over the UK and into the SW UK waters where once again there is a small possibility of an tiny underlying groundswell accompanied by light west winds. Who knows we might get lucky this time.
Long long range we could have enough wind/ground swell wipped up together to give our coasts some size.
Will update Friday.

Its Saturday ad appoligies for the late update but I was working and then happended to get wasted... So: Weekend forecastThe swell sump has been broken and today sees the first swells arriving up the channel. Currently only small and low period but they are still produsing a goos 1-2ft at the mouth thismorning on the incomming tide. Ceriad of course at high will wedge and make this bigger as well as when it reaches the low tide banks. Not quite big enouh for angelsey yet. As for sunday the persiod is improvig as the well traveled swell from the approaching low arrives but unfortunatly is maxing at 2.5ft 10sec on the lower bouy (but not untill mid afternoon on current charts) The mouth has a habit of picking up these types of swells and you could well see a ridable wave eathe rside of high tide which is around 10:30 tomorrow, the wrong time. Best bet is to look at Spouts pics in the morning to see whats its doing. Winds are a chilly but light ish NNW. I personally won't be out on Sunday but I'll call the club surf on and pass on best prospects. See you at 10. Rest of Week.It looking the sweetest its been in a LOOOOOONG tme. From monday evening onwards the swell hits with a building swell that it set to reach peeks of 8ft by Tuesday evening as the winds turn W then continue to a mix od SW and SSW for th rest of the week. I'm going to hold of saying anythgn specific for the rest of the week because it always changes but currently the average size and period for the week is looking around 10ft @ 10seconds. = me very stoked! Will update late monday once all the new charts are out.

Hey all!, I'm updating early today becuase this mornings charts are looking really good... REALLY GOOD! I was expecting the usual to happen, long rnge gets hopes up and thing as it ears it usually turns to crap, but looking at th animations today as well as the prssure charts I can believe that its IS going to be sweet! I mean I havn't seen the atlantic look like this for a while.... So Whats all this mean for north wales... Dispite the prevaling wind for the rest of the week swinging to a SW from Tuesday onwards this opens up all the classic spots for a surf, corner of the mouth, corner abberffraw, nober as well as the entire north shore of the llyen with swell hights maxing on average about 10ft from Tuesday onwards. Period is set at around 8 secons for the week so not as good as expected but still punchy for north wales. I'm going to update day to day agian becuase of all this lovely swell and 'll proberly be out for many dawnies There is a stong chance that as the lows come together and dispurse the wind speed will drop as well as change direction alot towarss th end of the week and we could see some S-SE winds. SUPERB! I'll giv the first report monday evening and then a update tuesday morning.

As I write the swell is on its way and due to arrive over night pushing through the best i've seen since my 1st year here in North Wales. I am truly stoked beyond anythign i can discribe which isn't supprising after the last 4 weeks. Weathers going to be pretty murky, with 100% cloud cover for the week as well as occasional rain but mostly staying a fine drizzel. Heres the general breakdown for the week: TuesdayAcommin in over night the swell arrives with 7seconds on the period and looks to stay a consistant 8-9ft on the bouy fort he day with fairly strong SW-SSW wind. Obiviouslt this rules out the likes of the mouth and ceriad as well as most spots on anglesey. however it should be big enough to kick off with a session on the North shore of the llyen or at Cable and rhyos. Rember tides! High on the north shore is approxmatly 11:30 (approx 2 hours late for the Island) I'd expect to see a nice off/cross shore 3-4ft comming in on the north shore proberly bigger. As for the island 4ft sets with the occasional bigger but wind is an issue there. WednesdayGetting biggertoday as the full effect arrives, peeking at almost 12ft on the buoy and an average of 9sec on the period today will be a good day. My spot advice stays the same as Tuesday ad winds remain SW for the day. ThursdayCurrently looking like the best day conceringin wavwe quality with size hovering around 10ft and 11second on the period, True sweetness not seen in northwales for a looooong time. Wind staying SW once again but not quite a strong as previous days. FridayAuthough charts indicated a drop in size this is the most well travled swell of the lot with periods up to 15seconds Friday will be the day of choice for that reason and for anotyher reason... Winds! they are swinging south from the morning with indications of a SSE by the end of the day. Size on the bouy is clocking at and average of 8ft @ 14seconds for the day. Might not be quite big enough for north shore but with the period so good I think we might well be supprised. I'd say head to mouth corner and if its crowded or litytle too sloppy check out the north shore from there. WeekendAs Emmer and I are off back home for a week or two over easter on Thursday eveing I wont be doing any reports for that time. However I will do a weekend and prospects report before I leave. Should be back in just undewr two weeks. Weekend is looking to hold out really well with good size and the exclent period comming through still. Will update Thursday.

Tuesday turned out to be a dissapointment arrived on the North Shore for a nicle playfull 2ft clean with occasional bigger sets but within 20mins of getting in it tottally dropped off Get back home and look at the swell history it turns out there was a swell sump where it dropped for a couple of hours in the, blody typical for me eh! Wednesday UpdateI'm going to make a general revision to today and the rest of the week becuase it seems this SW-SSW wind is affecting th swell period. Its een blowing over 30mph all night and has messed it up a bit. 6-7seconds is more along the line we're getting. Prospects for today look like yesterday now. Swell hights averaging out at 7-8ft on the bouy for he day possibily bigger. Again ont he board line for the North Shore but The high tide spots should give some waves 2-3ft cross/off shore. That or face the howling onshore wrath of everywhere else! Just hope Thursday manafests a bit better. Thw weekend is looking super sweet with SE-ESE winds forcast.

After Tuesdays dissapointment I was determind to get a good session in. Yesterday morning wa\s once again just a little too small for the north shore low tide spots and so we waited for the tide to fil and ended up having a fairly good sesion at Sands with 3-4ft sets and bigger comming through on the incomming tide. Joined by Spout and a few others it was the busyest i've seen north wales in a long time! (only 7 peeps out!) Unfortunaty towards midday the winds were blowing cross shore and making the swell a little confused but it was good fun.
Thursday Update Again comming in thismorning on the boarderline for north shore spots the swell is currently at 7.5ft @ 7 seconds on the bouy. Much like Tues and Wed this will only show on the north shore at high tide esp with SW winds still dominant and All because of the weekening of the current lows centre. It is however forecast to tighten up along with its other two centres which should send us more defined swell over the weekend accompanied by some S-SE winds Ideal for most spots on the llyen and Angelsey.
Will set a weekend report before I leave tonight.

Appoligies for not sticking up a report, was a bit rushed... If you had read my previous reports then you should have headed out anyway. The weekend was a scorcerd and some fun clean size came through. We scored a clean 4-5ft down here at combesgate on the Sat and ended up at Morgan Porth on the Sunday. Was clean all round Sweetness Hope you all had fun and i'll see ya in just over a week.
