~ University Surf Championships 2005 ~
4th - 6th March – Newquay – Fistral
Once again the annual Uni surf chaps at Newquay have arrived. Now this is by far the best trip of the year as its all Uni students in the area for the champs and a good time is always had! (see pictures on website!) Everyone together supporting those competing a celebrating winds or condoling losses in the pubs all weekend.
People wishing to enter the comp:
It is by no means a serious major comp and we don’t restrict our members from enjoying themselves if they are competing like some other Unis do *cough* Plymouth *cough* we leave that to your discretion
However every year we do seem to do quite well with Bangor being placed 4th over all in the women’s and 16th in men’s last year.
Anyone wishing to enter please speak to me or Kendal as numbers must be in by February the 3rd. We will also be talking to people about competing as you entrance fees will be paid for you. There is no pressure and the competition is lots of fun, just taking par gets the university points even if you get knocked out so its good fun all round representing Bangor.
Arrangements for everyone wishing to go:
We will be travelling down via mini bus (and cars) on Thursday the 3rd and staying until the Sunday. And all you have to pay is around £35 for the accommodation s the club pays the rest (lucky you!)
Staying as usual in the KeyWest Lodge run by Bruce a friend of the club, a sound guy. The lodge has beds, showers etc so no slumming it too badly
There should be around 28 places on the trip. Priority will go to those in the competition however we have always fitted everyone in on past trips. Sal of course being away trips officer will be organising the accommodation and travel and I expect to have details finalised by February.
Please, if you have any questions then give me or any of the team a shout, they all have plenty of stories to tell!
